Starbucks 2013 Planner

12/11/2012 § 2 Comments

Do not buy coffee only to get a planner. Get a planner as reward if you actually buy so much coffee from Starbucks.

I hate how people judge how much a Starbucks planner is worth if you count how much each cup of coffee is when in reality it’s just free. And no I did not buy those cups only to get a planner. I happen to get a FREE planner as a gift from Starbucks for buying so much coffee during the season. Okay, bad vibes be gone! 😉

I love stationery since forever 🙂 notebooks, pads, pens etc! 🙂 so it wont come out as a shock if I collect planners..I’ve been loving them since college and I only use them for half a year. The rest of the year flies too fast sometimes for me to write where I’ve been and stuff. My plans and scheds are usually photos or word documents then I just write in my planner what I asexually did for that day so I have something to look back 😉 more like a journal to me 🙂 anywho, since I’m getting really sleepy now, here’s what I found in mine! 😉

Available in black, green and white. The leather like hard cover, closed by magnets, is attached to the actual notebook via garters. Although I hate how it doesn’t seem very secure, I’m glad I can use this as book cover for when I read books out..I don’t like people to see the titles of the books I read..haha! Check out the cool magnetic bookmark shaped like a cup 😉

Promo cards and this year they added random cute things on months like sweet post it’s, photo frame and post card 😉

I like this..hoping to get another one for a friend 🙂 please you guys, enjoy the coffee and then the free gift don’t have to buy this from ur friends or just doesn’t make sense that way 🙂

Dainty Pink Face

09/05/2012 § Leave a comment

Braved BioChemDay with baby pink and shimmers! 🙂

Nanay gifted me with a Dear My Blooming Lips Talk from Etude House in PK04 I think. It’s the lightest of the pinks and I was too excited to wear it so this was taken from the night I got it..

I’m in love with the heart detail!!

And this was taken the morning after..

My excitement got me in the mood to do an almost all Etude face. Anywhoo, the photos aren’t best quality but in person, I was so mega shimmery!! 🙂 The only down side on the shimmery face is how it doesn’t hide imperfections and oilies.

First Impression

I chose this color on a whim and it’s only because I wanted a pale pinky lipstick (ughgain??! Yes again..) and I totes love the baby pinkness of it..haha! 🙂 on my bare lips, this looks more pink than when I used it over some layers of lip balms (Hawaiian Tropics and Apricot stick.. not in photo). I love the sweet scent almost the same scent with the BB Creams..i dunno, i like it. Also, not too much retouch needed except after eating. The only downside which I also experienced with my previous lipstick from EH is how it settles into lip lines although not drying up your lips. I fix it by dabbing on my lips with a clean ring finger after application to like melt it evenly on my lips.

Have you tried this uberly long named lippie from Etude? 🙂

❤ Jessica

Ps. Currently CANNOT FOCUS because Etude House in Festival mall is currently on a major sale and I am here in the library struggling with anatomy! Oh well..CONTROL.

Spectacular Combo

Spectacles would never look so “Bagay” 🙂

When I first wore my glasses to school my friends were all like, “Jes its bagay sayo” which translates to something like Jes it looks well on you which means that I’m prolly doing something right cause the first time I wore them, darn did I look old..mommy vibes all the way.

Clearly, something had to be done.

My first cheat is the Etude House Oh M’Eye Line in the brown shade. Eyes, behind the lenses tend to disappear and sometimes (like with my eyes and specs) you just don’t want that to happen. To make my eyes more defined and visible behind the specs, I lined my eyes with brown liquid liner. This is actually my first time to use a liquid liner but I opted to try it because

1) it’s usually the most affordable one
2) it’s easiest to take off
3) it doesn’t smudge and
4) it lasts all day.

I’ve shied away from liquid liners cause it looked difficult to manage but to my surprise, this was the quickest one to use considering I put this on everyday. When I line my eyes very thinly, it really looks like there’s nothing on my eyes (nice cheat huh?) 🙂 when I do cateyes (or cause I just get carried away and line to thickly..haha!) it still doesnt look to much for daytime cause the specs cover my eyes anyway 🙂

Second cheat is an additional layer of primer on my nosey. We all know that having to wear specs, it rests on your nose and we don’t want blisters on our Nose do we? Also, we totally do not want dark nose spots because glasses fade the nose foundation big time. I use EH Goodbye Pore Ever Stick on my nose before the foundation (another gift from Nanay.) I use this cause

1) it adds a layer of protection on my skin
2) it helps the make up last longer and
3) keeps the nose oilies at bay 🙂

This is a soft cream to powder stick that can be directly applied on the skin. It has a translucent matte finish that may or may not need a little blending to look seamless. It’s a hassle free step that works so well 🙂

With facial colors, I’m still in my bright pink high ala Barbie peg 🙂 but for a more mature look, go for some glowing roses and nudes on the lips and cheeks 🙂 Eyecolors aren’t too necessary anymore, since eyeliners are already visible and glasses frame eyes already, no need for so much fuss. UNLESS you want some more contour to make eyes look deeper or much bigger, use browns 😉

Ps. I can never forget saying spectacles cause I learned that from Ms. Trish waaay back in high school! 🙂

Are You Pro or Anti RH Bill?

08/07/2012 § Leave a comment

My stand (stand talaga with conviction) on th RH Bill.

I shall not go into the legalities of it all because that’s easily Google-able for you 😉

I know how many debates have gone crazy over this. This is not debatable. This is quite sensitive for Filipinos and all opinions should be respected. I however, shall try to “influence” you with my stand..haha! I for the record shall state that I have nothing against the Church nor the people who do not support the RH Bill because I know that they stand in good faith that Filipinos do not need the RH Bill. Being a nursing graduate and medical school student, I stand in good faith that the Filipinos need the RH Bill.

If not all Filipinos, then the parents of the children who knock at your car window asking for some change need the RH Bill. Also those children need the RH Bill as they grow up. Maybe with RH Bill those mothers who have died in relation to pregnancy are living and taking care of their babies right now. Because the RH Bill does not support abortion, then maybe the cases of abortion (because there ARE A LOT going on) would be decreased. Little children in the streets who would say “bastos” when other kids joke about maliscious things need RH Bill so they will be guided; so that they learn the proper knowledge from the propper people.

I, for one, am not the perfect person to lecture you about safe sex and parenthood and abstinence. Duh. I had an unplanned pregnancy. In spite of all the contraceptive techniques that I’ve learned and supposed to teach when I become a Registered Nurse, I still got pregnant. And even if I was months from my dreams, I put everything on hold to keep my baby. No I’m not saying that you should admire me for that..everything at that point would’ve been avoided if only I kept myself on the better path. I’m just saying that maybe if my parents were so closed minded about pregnancy and single motherhood, they would’ve sent me out of our home. They would have stopped guiding me and can you imagine where I’d be right now?

Blessed with understanding parents, Ive finished college and now pursuing Medicine. How about the others? The ones who got pregnant and chose to abort the baby because of financial, personal or career related restraints? Have a baby and you lose your job. Have a baby and forget that you were part of this family. Have a baby and let us see how you can afford to buy the milk, diapers and expensive vaccines. Do you think that people who experience these kinds of pressure and give in are EVIL? No. The society is evil for not being able to accept the reality of an unborn blessing. The society is evil for judging. And the mothers who abort their children are confused. That is why they need people to support and guide them.

How about these married couples? Marriage is not the license to have a football team of kids to starve. Marriage is the starting point to create a family in love. And with love, comes responsibility. Responsibility not only to feed your children food thrice everyday. It also comes that you should be supportive to them and teach them values. That you create great memories for them to cherish. I know nothing about working parents but I pity children who can’t spend time with their over worked parents. I pity most children who work because what their parents earn is not enough for them. Worse, that they only beg or turn to wrongdoings just to get some money for food.

Yes the government has a lot more problems to prioritize however, the government can’t keep giving people jobs because there already are too many people. Worse, parents don’t even work anymore because they want the government to feed their children. Where is the responsible parenthood there? When they kept their baby thru pregnancy only to starve them until they die of famine? The government can’t keep feeding children and the private organizations can’t keep giving slippers and school supplies to children during their reach out activities. Social awareness is not only for the people who want to help. Those who need the help should be socially aware of how they SHOULD help themselves. People would always want to help but at least, the people they help could keep themselves provided with basic needs already.

Not to mock the Church but when Jesus fed the thousands, it was only one meal. Even Jesus could not feed them everyday for the rest of their lives. Like what was said in the Bible, shouldn’t we teach them how to fish rather than simply give them fish? (I’m not sure now if that came from the bible..haha!) of course the church also said that blessed are those who are “poor and struggling” but what if they have come to a point that they’re not trying anymore to improve their children’s future? Or that they turn to crimes for money? I think that education is key so the change starts within the people who need to change. They should know how to improve their lives and not simply blame the corruption in the government for poverty. Corruption will always be there and so as citizens who are not working for the government, let us make this change on our own.

It’s been said that the government only wants some population control over the poor but honestly, anything good even the Bible could be used negatively if used with wrong intentions. This is not a way of limiting the population of the poor. This is an eye opener for all Filipinos rich and poor alike. It’s just that obviously, the poor will benefit more from this cause they will now be guided about raising a family. The Church offers them guidance but what about those who are not Catholics?

I feel sorry for the children in the streets. I also feel sorry for all the maternal deaths. I feel sorry for the non Catholics who do not have the Church to guide them about their family. I feel sorry for the young parents who were sent out of the house, or are struggling with their children until they eventually become (bad) incapable parents with sickly and starving children.

Say NO to maternal deaths. Say NO to fetal deaths. Say NO to street children. Say YES to RH Bill.

PS Spoken like a true aspiring OB GYN. See? I’m so pro life like that 😉

Got Me Some Specs

08/02/2012 § 4 Comments

So I finally had my eyes checked and found that I’m nearsighted. That means I can see near things clearly but far things are blurred. This is a problem when someone drives and constantly have to read things from a projector screen. Sometimes, having to switch from near to far focus makes me dizzy and this is why I sought for help already. It’s also a nonreversible case. I initially did not want to get some specs cause I hate looking even more geeky or old but heck. No choice.

Conveniently, The Paseo Optical is just across the road so I had my eyes checked there. The optometrist is there 2-7pm on weekdays..don’t go back three times before finally remembering the schedule like what I did. Ugh. Poor attention span. Anyhoo, the optometrist (whose name I forgot, again, poor attention span) was very nice asking me how I’ve been feeling and what problems I encountered. Then she checked my eyes to get an estimate of my vision. Then she asked me to sit and read the Snellens Chart. She then asked me to wear a frame of empty glasses and tried on various lenses with which I could see the chart clearly. After that, I just had to choose some frames and got my glasses 2pm the next day.

Of course, choosing the frames was critical for me. I wasn’t planning to buy several frames that I could switch to match what Im wearing so I went with a classing that goes well with my uniform (I wasn’t planning on wearing them outside school anyway). I didnt like the thick plastic frames cause they look too immature and trendy. I also don’t want the glasses too obvious. Lola vibes all the way. I went with slim silver and black frames. Yes it made me look so old and geeky.

And as usual when I’ve no choice I just try to distract people with something else. Hence, I got myself too a liquid eyeliner 🙂 way to rationalize the purchase huh? Lol! I’ve been using my Proof 10 Autopencil but I really don’t wanna use it up so much cause it’s a little expensive. And liquid liners wash off easier so it’s better for everyday use. I’ll tell you more on the next review 😉

Wearing my glasses, I was really amused at how clear I could see things now. I really did not realize that my vision was so blurry already. Driving felt like i was invincible! 🙂 and studying was much less dizzying. Although, I totally feel handicapped cause for the first few hours, it was hard not to focus on the frames could see through my vision. It’s crazy. It’s like “No more peripheral vision for you Jes!” haha! But after a while, you’ll get used to it and no more squinting! Ergo, no more wrinkles! Actually, only just much less likely but you get the point 😉

The Late Face

07/24/2012 § Leave a comment

Here’s how I do my make up when im barely on time and almost late for school 😉

This is a much quicker version of my everyday routine. I do this when I like to give my skin some room to breathe (from having to wear make up every single weekday,) when I’m in a huge hurry or when my make up does not have to last the whole day 🙂

This is mega easy 🙂

  • Spritz Ponds oil control toner to take care of shine and proud pores.
  • Layer up on Snoe BB Vitamin cream with SPF for an even tone, cover imperfections, moisturize and protect face. Saves me a lot of minutes from my usual routine.
  • Use Hawaiian Tropics Sunscreen Lip Balm on your lips (I really recomend this balm because of it’s SPF and it’s a lightweight matte that is great with any kind of lip color)
  • Spread some SPF lotion on your body while waiting for the BB cream to settle on your face. I personally layer Snoe Here Comes the Sunblock SPF 45 over my lotion on not rainy days.
  • Set with a good protective but even layer of Maybelline Clear Smooth all in one foundation so the make up stays matte and put together even through sweat and oilies.
  • Add a light shimmer and hint of rose on your cheeks with ELF All over color stick and lightly cover it with Maybelline Clear smooth blush to make your matte fresh rosy glow last all day.
  • If needed or preferred, you can use EH Drawing Eyebrows to give your brows a more put together look or give it a hint of color to match your hair.
  • When needed, Use a mascarra to get your eyes in the awake mode. I used a dark brown pencil liner because I needed to add some more awake into my puffy stayed-up-late-last-night. My choices are Maybelline Super Film and EH Proof 10 Autoliner
  • After wearing the white stuff and drinking the coffee, finish off with the lip color of the day. Here I used SophieLipstick in Summer Pink, a cool baby pink color.
  • 20120724-133111.jpg

I like this make up style cause not only does it save me time but people tends to say that I look like I didnt use anything on my face but the blush and lip color, ergo, faking the clear skin baby! 😉

What I don’t like is that on extremely hot days, my face would feel greasy during our sunny lunch time walks but could be fixed with EH Woner Pore Freshner and retouch with my powder 🙂

    Library Loner Face

    07/11/2012 § 4 Comments

Did you stay up late last night studying for an exam? I did 😦

Welcome to Dr. R. A. Medical Library :))

Let me just blabber while I rest my mind from anatomy reviewers

    Check out my view 😉

Don’t you love how clean it looks like? Haha! Just an awesome place to study..away from the traffic and pollution 🙂

Moving on..check out todays make up 🙂

*made a point to wear so much pink on my lips just cause yesterday my Nude Peach Fuss was apparently “pale” duh? Haha! Boys’s called baby pink make up! 🙂

Watch from Link 🙂 they have the most interesting designs of plastic watches at great prices (very collectable). I’m planning to switch to a porcelain white and gold watch (cause i know itll look awesone on my white uniform..haha! Vanity!) but I can’t seem to save enough money for it :))

    Today’s routine:

  • Olay moisturizer
  • Hawaiian Tropics SunscreenStick Lip Balm
  • Goodbye Pore Ever Stick
  • Nivea immediate sun protect for face
  • Maybelline ClearSmooth Aqua foundation
  • Maybelline Clear Smooth all in one foundation
  • Maybelline Clear Smooth Shine free blush in Fresh Coral
  • EH Proof 10 Auto Pencil in brown
  • EH Drawing Eyebrows in #3 Brown
  • Snoe Handy Lip Color in Strawberry
  • Maybelline Magnum Super Film Mascara
  • Today’s routine is intended for a sunny day and a lot of walking but close to none retouching 😉

Also, I officially have “Brown Hair” as of 2 Tuesdays ago thanks to Etude House Bubble Hair Coloring in Mocha pink 🙂 see?

I love how it looks a lot less yellow in normal light and almost natural but kept my face looking softer and younger because of the lighter shade than my forever brown-black which was my natural jet black hair only damaged by the sun so it tends to have a tinge of brown in sunlight..haha! :)) it could be a dupe for Ash brown blonde (the shade ive always wanted cause of Ms. Curtis) which is like an off brown-grey hair, no yellow undertones but could only be achieved by bleaching and a lot of recoloring. So yeah I’m mega happy 🙂

I’m not sure what else I should blabber about so I’m gonna sign off now and get back to the books 🙂 wish me luck on my exams today? 😉

    ❤ Jessica
