Review: Wild Cherry Lip Butter by The Body Shop
I know that almost everyone who loves The Body Shop has already tried the lip butters especially this particular miniature of the Wild Cherry Body Butter. Im a fan of body butters for the texture and scent however, I’ve stopped purchasing them because I can’t ever seem to be able to finish the tubs when before they go bad on me. Either I store them in and places or they’re just there for too long already..when my skin got over the dry puberty age, I would only use these very sparingly on very dry spots occasionally (imagine how long a tub would last me then)
I have the same dilemma with the lip butter pots. I can use a pot for months and months and maybe almost years so I try to steer away from piling the stocks up too much. I only use them at nights or mornings that i have cracked up lips. Also, I don’t bring my lip butter pots with me in my purse. I only use them at home to avoid contamination..and this is the only product I don’t share with my sis. I bought her her own lip pot which lasts her ages too so we don’t contaminate each other and shorten the products life span. Just sharing. LOL
I still would like to share this review because this IS my “Holy Grail” lip butter pot..very beauty blogger jargons :))
The Body Shop Wild Cherry Lip Butter is a thick cream (same consistency as the body butters..yes, I know you already knew that) with a hint of pink and a strong but not artificial cherry scent. This moisturizes very well, as in it does not only soften the outermost skin on your lips but you could really feel that it has seeped into the deeper layers making you lips more supple. It has a slight pink sheen finish and a little waxy feeling, as in you would know that you have it on your lips. The pink tint is quite unnoticeable when worn and so this may not work out on it’s own at a natural hint of pink on paler lips.
Overall, this is one of my favorite lip products which I would repurchase if I ever finsih the pot. For girls who steer away from pot lip butters, this is still a necessity for very dry lips because it works so well. Just make sure to be extra careful with contamination and this product won’t go bad as early as you think 😉
PS Care to share more tips on keeping pot products free from contamination? 🙂

Review Dark Chocolate & Cherry Lip Butter by Palmer’s
Ive been eyeing this little tube from the counters for a couple of days before deciding to get one because I already have enough lip products. However, I still went for it because of the cocoa butter formula which has always been great for my skin and the promise of chocolatey scent..haha!
I’ve first came to know Palmer’s during the time that my belly was growing a little baby boy. I do love the scents that their products have and how they specifically have a few products to cater for mommies who want to keep a healthy skin and not use so much chemicals on their body (they have an Organics which I used to avoid stretch marks.) The products did not only give great texture but also relaxes me and gets me into a calm almost mommy mode.
The packaging is very straight forward and so I don’t have to tell you more why this is great for the skin.
It was however not what I expected (as in a thick brownish glossy cream which comes with a strong chocolatey scent like that of The Body Shop) which may or may not be a good thing cause it wasn’t really much of a disappointment and it wasn’t really much at all. It’s just ok 🙂
Palmer’s Dark Chocolate & Cherry lip butter is a clear glossy liquid that is somewhat like a thick oil but not runny. Seeps into the lips well and moisturizes better than typical lip balms. Leaves a clear glossy finish which could be a great topper for lip colors to ensure moisture and avoid cracks. Starts of with a light chocolatey scent which fades quite too quickly for me.
I’ve not much to say cause it’s just ok. It’s moisturizing but nothing very special. I wish the scent lingers longer too. Here’s my item just so you guys see it’s nit new like in the photo I got from google.

Longest Title Ever 🙂
Because of my love for the Maybelline Clear Smooth line, I found myself collecting all the colors of the Shine Free Blushes 😀 As I’ve said before, blushes come in different colors to find a perfect shade for you (and not to treat them as a mini collection) so in this post I shall swatch these girls for you to find your perfect shade! 🙂
- All swatches done over Clear Smooth Aqua Gel Foundation in Natural Beige
- Applied on cheeks with Suesh Mini Kabuki brush
- Only the right side of the photo is lighted up while facing the window while the other side is really darker to get a better look at the pigment
- Lip colors by ELF Essentials Lipsticks in Seductive (Red) & Classy (Pink)
- Amount of blush was to purposely make obvious the difference in colors but in reality, do apply with a light hand as this may easily look clownish
- Excuse the shine on my face..hehe!!
Fresh Rose is a cool light pink shade with a slight shimmer which virtually looks like a subtle glow when applied. The color is buildable into a cool Barbie Pink blush and a little glitter could be noticed. I keep this in my go-to-school make up kit cause this makes me look alive while not looking too much for a school day.
Fresh Berry is a deeper shade of pink that leans to red which gives you a glowing flush like that of when you see *insert name of a hottie here* 🙂 The pigment is great and so is applied with a very light hand, which is also why the color stays for a good span of time and fades like you have a red-pink cheek tint on.
Fresh Coral is a pink with a less Barbie thing going on and more of a Tropical-as-in-perfect-for-summer thing going on. This looks great on a day under the sun (where it looks more Coral) and even indoors (where it looks more Pink.) I also keep this in my go-to-school make up kit for a little twist especially when Im almost dying with the hours of info overload 🙂
Fresh Apricot is a very tangerine shade which looks great for summer days and nights out! (maybe its just me but this is too bright for an everyday kind of thing) 🙂 There is a subtle golden glitter which is like a subtle Bella Bamba. I’ll say that this one is like an Orange Bella Bamba 😀 This should also be used with a very light hand because the color can easily be clownish as applied heavily. The pigment stays a good span of time. I see myself using this soon on my cousin’s birthday but not tomorrow for a school day..hihi! 😉
I shall again tell you why I love the Maybelline Clear Smooth Shine Free line 🙂
- affordable at 189php
- pretty colors which blend perfectly to the yellow and pale Asian skin
- lives up to the Shine Free claim
- fades gracefully into a subtle tint
- does not break me out
- feels so light on the skin
- strong pigmentation means a little goes a long way
- clean simple packaging where I can easily see the shade
- lasting power is enough for my hot humid school days
I hope this post can help you choose your perfect shade cause I really do recommend this as a MUST HAVE 😀
PS. Notice how the two ELF essentials lippies go perfectly with the blushers? ELF lippies are another everyday must have 🙂

I shall share with you my recent experiences with Watsons salesladies and please consider this as a
rant suggestion 😉
Watsons is a pharmacy/personal care store that caters to a wide range of beauty brands..that being said salesladies should be knowledgable in what they are selling and also friendly because obviously, most shoppers would be girlies who want to try and get suggestions for which make up product they plan to purchase
Watsons Girl 1
Me: Miss, do you have the Shine Free Blush?
Wg1: (friendly tone) is this (clear smooth minerals blush) the one you’re looking for?
Me: nope, I’m looking for the pressed one in a green round case..
Wg1: sorry ma’am this is all that we have here.
Watsons Girl 2 & 3
Me: Miss, do you have this blush in Fresh Rose?
Wg2: (friendly tone) let me check with the other counter..(asks watsons girl 3 for the shade)
Wg3: (friendly tone) ma’am please wait here, I’ll check with the stocks
*they’re both nice and took the effort to do something to help
Watsons Girl 4 & 5
Me: miss do you have the Shine Free blush?
Wg4: (bluntly says) there’s no clear smooth blush.
Then as I was turning away, she sarcastically says to Wg5 “Wala namang blush sa clear smooth diba?” then I suddenly look at them again and she repeated the question in a normal tone
Wg5: hum..I think there is (then points to another rack of goodies where I could find the blush)
Me: yup that’s it. Thanks!
*Wg4 I have something to say to you..
Please know what you are actually selling and be respectful enough when talking to your costumers. Just cause you didn’t know the blush line existed, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist at all. In short..You weren’t very helpful..and you are quite annoying! Hmph!!
And please fix your make up. How will people buy make up from you if you make the make up look bad. LOL evil.
I’m just saying.

Review: Johnson & Johnson’s Cooling Baby Bath
The summer heat sometimes isn’t only bad for our skin. Sometimes, it also affects our mood and activities so it’s not enough to stay away from the sun because still the heat is everywhere..what to do about it? Try a cooling bath product 🙂
I got this for Baby Mio after I saw a TVC and tried it out on me and him right away. I don’t know if it’s just me but a great fresh scent can really do a huge change to my shunning away from the sun mood 🙂 When I tried it out, I was keen to feel the coolness and if it can be uncomfortable for baby Mio. Also, because Mio has very sensitive skin, moisture is important. So far, this has not disappointed 😉
I’m gladi bought this product for Mio. I know it cools him off and keeps him fresh as he was in a very good mood after bath time (he would usually cry whenever bath time ends) And if Mio’s in a good mood, that means more playtime with mommy! 🙂

Review: Maybelline Clear Smooth Aqua Gel Foundation, All in One Shine Free Foundation and Shine Free Blush
I’ve been trying out commuting this week and I’ve to say that my current make up stash is not for commuting. My sheer coverage Dewey finish looks are no match for the hot sun, sweat and oilies. My better coverage ones melt from my under the sun escpades and my shimmer blushes look very awkward with the sunny days. In other words, I was in a search for better but very affordable make up to use everyday in my now, commuting life.
Ever since I had a chat with our make up artist neighbor, she told me to give Maybelline a second look (because I’ve been ignoring the Maybelline drug store lines for 1) I see people who wear Maybelline tend to have pimples 2) they’re faces are amazingly white and powdery 3) I’ve already developed my staple face products) And when I saw a light weight foundation at a very affordable price, I’ve been prying on the rest of the line which could be great for my use.
Maybelline Aqua Gel Foundation
I purchased this product because it claims to be light weight and water based. Also, the SA suggested that this is great for everyday use. I used it at very different conditions together with random products and found that this was really worth the positive reviews on the net.
Overall, I will definitely repurchase because this is great and savvy for everyday use. Not too much coverage that makes me look too made ip for everyday. I’ve never worn something so light with a matte finish.
Maybelline All in One Shine Free Foundation
However I prefer to purchase and only use the refill cause 1) it saves space 2) it’s cheaper 3) I’ve seen a lot of stories where the pact breaks because the case isn’t very sturdy 4) it already comes with a puff.
I’ve first seen this from a classmate who also uses the refill and just exclaimed at how pretty the little light pink square pact looked. It was still during my Maybelline indefference days so I did not purchase then. It was only now that I appreciate and understand (cause I always wondered) why Maybelline powders look so amazingly matte. As in matte like “Hello I can see the layer of make up on your face already.” Now that I spend 1/3 of my days under the sun and sweating, I tried this out and did the sweaty test..lol! 🙂 this was so great at keeping my face fresh all day amidst the bad weather.
Overall, I will surely repurchase cause I could even skip my oil control primer with this and it really stays all day in spite of the sweat and my non stop touching on my face, eyelids, temples and forehead (student problems) hehe! 🙂
Maybelline Clear Smooth Shine Free Blush
I’ve seen this and the price really got to me. It’s so affordable and because the Clear Smooth line hasn’t made me break out, I bought the blush without even swatching or comparing the shades..lol. No regrets though cause it’s just the blush I’m looking for, great pigment and dewey finish that doesn’t give up after the sweaty day. Also blends so well and easily over my Maybelline Shine Free Foundation. The pack comes with a little puff like a cute kiddie fun size version of drugstore brand face powders which I haven’t tried using.
Overall, I feel I wouldn’t need to repurchase because I only use so little..I know it’s gonna last a long time 🙂 I plan to buy the other shades 🙂
A lot of people said they didn’t like the packaging but I liked the green matchy matchy (the powder used to be cased in a similar but green packaging like with the blush) style. I liked the green cause it looks so clean and the plastic used wasn’t the kind that catches stains easily.
The line works well on me and I use the three items everyday for when I go to school, especially on days when I commute. Yesterday I put on my make up at 5am and went home at 9pm with only one retouch for a matte and fresh look before I had an early dinner with my mom and her friends 🙂

Review: Apricot Stick from Etude House
I’ve first purchased this item because of it’s incredibly affordably price, scent and sheer pigment 🙂 I wanted to use something for school everyday and picked out the sheer pink/red shade which turned out very natural on my lips to take away my paleness but still look just fresh for school. I’m really not sure which Caterpgory this falls into among the Etude House products except that it’s for the lips..however, I’ll call this a tinted lip balm cause it’s moisturizing and gives a good stain that lasts a good span of time, unless you eat something very greasy or find yourself biting your lips non stop.
Apricot Sticks come in a wide variety of colors so you can really find the shade that is just right for you. However, I do not know what’s wrong with me and why whenever something comes in a variety of colors, the impulse is not to find the perfect shade but to collect them all, like pokemons! :)) Swatches vary from the coolest light pink which might even not show so well on pigmented lips, to the deepest daytime summer red and until the most natural tint ala just bitten 🙂
I totally love how the sturdy case matches the exact color of the lippie inside, don’t you? 🙂
What I love about the Apricot Stick:
Variety of shades
Moisturizes like a regular lip balm
Tints can last a good few hours until I eat
Can be very sheer and buildable to a good bright pigment with a little sheen
Sturdy, easy to bring, fool proof and color coded cases
Light fruity scent that makes me wanna eat them all up! 🙂
What I wish this could be:
I wish it had a little more pigment and a longer lasting power, however being a tinted lip balm, it does what it has to very effectively 🙂
Will I repurchase? I plan to collect them all 😉
